A home invasion suspect was shot and killed inside a Katy home late Thursday night.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said two men dressed in body armor kicked the front door down.
“It appears multiple suspects forced entry during the home invasion. For unknown reasons, suspect(s) began shooting immediately. One of the adult sons of the homeowner gets up to see what’s happening. One of the suspects begins firing towards the resident, most likely inadvertently striking his co-suspect. The wounded male drops his own pistol as he attempts to flee. The resident picks up that pistol and begins shooting at the fleeing suspects, fatally shooting the suspect that initially began shooting. The one that was inadvertently shot managed to flee with other suspects.”
The victims told investigators that the suspects were pounding on the door, identifying themselves as Houston police officers.
Investigators said they do not think the home invasion was random and believe the home was targeted. They're working to determine a motive.
