Teacher Arrested For Allegedly Putting Five-Year-Old Boy In Headlock

An elementary school teacher in New York City was arrested for allegedly putting a five-year-old boy in a headlock. The New York City Police Department said that the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Monday (September 9) afternoon at PS 153 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Elementary School in upper Manhattan.

Officials said that 46-year-old Anthony Wicks was taken into custody and charged with assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.

The young boy was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. While authorities did not provide details about the boy's condition or the extent of his injuries, they said he is expected to survive and make a full recovery.

Investigators did not say what led Wicks to allegedly put the child in a headlock.

Authorities said that the incident remains under investigation. School officials have not commented on the allegations against Wicks.
