Alabama Extending Vaccination Plan To More Residents This Month

Alabama will be extending its COVID-19 vaccination plan later this month.

State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris announced residents in Phase 1C will be eligible to get vaccinated beginning on March 22, WBRC reports.

The Alabama Department of Public Health lists residents eligible for Phase 1C as anyone 55 years or older, individuals with high-risk medical conditions and critical workers who were not recommended to be vaccinated during Phase 1B.

All Alabama residents in phases 1A and 1B who did not already receive the vaccine are still eligible to do so.

The Alabama Department of Public Health said it is following the guidance of the Advisory Committee on immunization Practices (ACIP) for prioritizing of risk groups as supplies are still limited. More information regarding Alabama's Vaccination Allocation Plan with priority phases and information on vaccine availability can be found here.

The Alabama Department of Health has also launched a COVID-19 Dashboard Hub, which houses all four of the state's COVID-19 dashboards, as well as a COVID-19 Table. For more on data and surveillance including our daily Case Characteristics, visit Data and Surveillance.

Alabama is currently under an amended Safer at Home Order effective March 5 to April 9. More information can be found here.
